Andy Kaufman died of lung cancer on May 16, 1984. Apparently, he joked that if he were faking his death, he would reappear 20 years later. According to this article, one of Andy's best friends is organizing a huge party at the House of Blues for Andy on that day. He is placing personal ads around the world to remind his friend "just in case."
This is sweet, but incredibly sad at the same time. I hope the many stars who plan to attend will focus on celebrating his life and not focus on waiting for him to appear in the doorway. Otherwise, his friends are just reopening old wounds and pain that should otherwise be quashed after 20 years.
