A Guilty and Embarrassing Pleasure

Suzanne blogged about guilty pleasures, and I am forced to admit one of mine while celebrating a huge feat regarding as-yet-unsaid pleasure. Podracer. Yes, I own an N64 and while I like other games, I am addicted only to Podracer. I am aware that cheats are available, but I am trying to win without them. Pathetically, over the last several months of playing, I haven't even cleared two out of the four levels of races. But last night, after at least a month of unsuccess, I passed race 6 on level 2. Yay for pathetic little me! The trick was switching to another pod. And yes, I am an embarrassingly bad video gamer.

Is that a Star Wars game?

Yes Ann, it is. Shamefully, one time Julia suggested I might let your sons borrow it for a while and I couldn't do it. How embarrassing. I couldn't let 3 little boys enjoy a star wars game. I think I will just find them a used copy and buy it. Andrew WOULD love it, I think.

I asked Kristen once if Andrew could borrow pod racer... You should have seen the look on her face! She is ADDICTED and it was as though I was going to take away her crack!

(Luckily for Kristen, Andrew told me he doesn't like racing games anyway. So all are happy.)

LOL- we commented at the same time on that. He doesn't like racing games huh? Well, then, I guess I won't buy it for him afterall.

You are too funny! I am glad that you have found something in life that makes you happy. It is the simple things, indeed! :)

My guilty pleasure is Unreal Tournament 2004. I play against another guy at work at lunch. We both bring our lunches and eat with our coworkers, and then, right in the middle of a good social conversation, we both stand up and go shoot each other. Soooo much fun.

That's hilarious Joe.

Christian, you KNOW you can beat me one-on-one. You've done it a million times. AND I forgot to tell you the most important thing- the "I told you so" thing. It helped when I kept the sound on.

yes but in college, I was a formidable foe to C2 at Podracer. The racing games are the only ones I'm good at.

Funny you mention this -- I was playing Super Mario 3 on my old school Nintendo last week. I sucked.

I made it to the final level of the original Super Mario Bros last week. First time I had played it in forever...
I'm pretty sure I'm a geek...
