Last night was our second book club meeting (club STILL unnamed). The best part of the whole thing to me is being able to share my book nerdiness with others. Who would have thought that The Eyre Affair could be discussed so philosophically? And we certainly had fun casting the would-be movie as well. I think I can safely say that the majority enjoyed The Eyre Affair more than The DaVinci Code. After much deliberation, our next book is to be Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. We wanted to do a classic and something none of us had read. This was a last-minute, throw-in suggestion by Anna, and we just went for it. Strangely, most of us don’t even know what the book is really about. Anna suggested writing down what we think the book is about before we start to read it. What are our impressions of the book based on what we have heard or seen in pop culture. Should make for some interesting additional conversation.
Posted by kristen at April 22, 2004 03:50 PM | TrackBackI'm really sorry I couldn't be there last night - sounds like fun. :)
At any rate, regarding the would-be EA movie. Someone asked Jasper about that. He says he's had offers, but this is a man who has experience in the film industry, and he won't sell the rights unless *he* can have (basically) complete control. So *if* (and when?) the movie gets made, it will be on his terms, so it should rock. A lot.
Glad everyone liked the book. :) Looking forward to TIsland which, believe it or not, I've never read. I don't think I'll have many surprises in it, though.
