Tell Me About It

I was struck by the simple wisdom in the following statement by Carolyn Hax about self-esteem: "Change what you can, make peace with what you can't and let the masses think what they want."

Then I realized, it sounds a lot like the Serenity Prayer: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, to change the things I can and the ability to know the difference."

Hm. Good stuff either way. I'm all for strong people, especially women, but Hax also warns that if a person becomes too strong (in the post-doormat stage for example), he or she could lose the ability to compromise. However, strong people can also be generous people.

Just thoughts to let marinate.

this entry segues nicely into a story i have for you, kristen. as i was sitting at my dining room table typing a paper for school (close to one in the AM), i rifled through my cd case and found a cd of interest. not too many tracks in from the beginning came a voice: "Hi, this is Kristen..." followed by "ya gotta be."

talk about memory lane. i think hax's statement stated the same message you gave us a few wake-ups back.

p.s. jenny and c2 graced the eardrums that night as well.

v. heartwarming.

Kissing Jessica Stein.

at least, i'm figuring you're offering the two points to whoever notices the 'marinate' reference. Great movie!

Excellent Tanya- it took almost 4 hours- but I knew someone would get it. I love the use of that word!

Ok, a nose ring. I need pics to prove this is true!! Oh ya, a pic link would be cool!

I need a decent picture with it in though. I have a couple but you can't see the stud and the one you CAN see the stud is an AWFUL picture. So I will work on that.
