i’m crazy

So Julia posted something on her blog a few days ago about starting NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November—yes, all those words in just one month. I don’t have a creative bone in my body so there is no way I can write anything remotely like fiction. That being said, there are so many things I need to write—what about that essay about such and such and remember that great story about my car? Etc. As many people know, I tend to repeat all my stories so I figured I should just get them in a bound volume and be done with it. So that’s what I’m doing. It’s going to be a mix of David Sederis’ Me Talk Pretty One Day and Chuck Klosterman’s Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs. Even though, as we all know, Chuck once blew me off at a party when I tried to compliment him, I still like his writing. Hmm...an idea for a story!

  1. That is so disappointing to hear that he is such an asshole.  But by reading his book I should have known that up front.  That is one of the best books I have ever read.

  3. A collection of your stories a la DS and/or CK would be a hoot, truly entertaining.  Let me know when you’re letting the public read them…

Oh man, Me Talk Pretty had me almost making wee-wee in my pants, especially early on with the “flute” story.  That whole collection was excellent.  My sig-other and my boss and her sig-other got to see David Sedaris read at the American Theatre here in St. Louis, and then he took questions.  Tres cool.

Have you ever seen Amy Sedaris do an interview?  Freakin’ hilarious.
