the lions season is already depressing
Apparently, the Lions are so bad this year that an assistant coach is already getting drunk. So drunk, in fact, that he’s been pulled over twice in the past two weeks and one of those times, he was driving naked. How out of your mind do you have to be to be driving around without any clothes on? So goes another bad year for my teams and the season doesn’t even start until tonight. I am such a glutton for punishment.
Also, this is a friendly reminder that you need to make your football picks for your family pool. David, Alix and Aaron, this means you.
You guys should be fine. The Lions do look pretty bad, but so is the entire NFC Norris division. The Pack, Bears and Vikes will all suck just as bad - so if the Lions can go at least 8-8, they might win the division.
I was at a Devil Rays/Tigers game here in Tampa a month or so ago, and in an attempt to rile up some Detroit fans I got a “fire Millen” chant started in my section - quite a few Tigers fans joined in, it was pretty cool.

What a great football weekend this is going to be—we have the start of the season tonight, the OSU-Texas game Saturday Night, the Browns playing Reggie Bush and the Saints Sunday afternoon, and then the battle of the Mannings Sunday Night. I may just not leave the apartment. Are you ready for some football?! Damn straight I am.

And David—are you sure you did your picks? Did you get an email saying you submitted them? And while Sunday will be awesome, I’m also looking forward to Sept. 17. Browns/Bengals baby!

I picked Miami for last night’s game figuring Ben was out with an appendectomy and Charlie Batch sucks ass. I forgot that all former Lions quarterbacks only really suck ass when they play for the Lions. Dammit!
Posted by jenny on 09/08 at 10:02 AMI’m afraid Jen is right. The Pack is most likely going to suck again this year. They looked completely inept in the preseason. The Bears might actually be pretty good this year - a pal of mine has season tickets so I’ll be at a few games this year at the hideous Soldier Field. The Bears might actually go 11-5 or something like it, and that would definitely be enough to take this crappy division.
I will definitely be at the last Packer game of the regular season - at Soldier Field in Chicago for the Jan. 1st game - it will probably be Brett’s last game, and I think he should have quit at the end of last season.
